Still, all Mack Trucks sold in North America are manufactured here in the US, and the company is one of the largest manufacturers of heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks in the country.

Notable Mack Truck Models

You can't go wrong with a Mack Truck, and their large variety makes it easy to find one that fits your needs. Here's a closer look at some of the brand's top models.

Mack LR Electric

Mack has always incorporated the latest technology into their designs, and the LR Electric is evidence they will continue to do so into the 21st century. It provides the same tough build, reliability, and comfort as the diesel-powered model, all powered by a 100% electric motor. That means no fuel costs, no oil changes, no emissions, a quiet powertrain, and significant possibilities for tax incentives. Specs include:

  • 2 AC motors with 334 kW (448 hp) continuous power and 400kW Peak (536 hp)
  • 4 NMC lithium-ion batteries, 600 volts with fast charge capability
  • Up to 150kW charge power with a maximum current of 200 Amps, 550-750 volts
  • Auxiliary Power Circuits: 260 Amps, 12, 24, and 600 volts
  • Horsepower: 536 hp
  • Torque: 4051 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 66,000 lbs.

With engine combustion (and no delay) between the accelerator and the powertrain, added torque is a key advantage of electric trucks - just one of many exciting aspects of the future of trucking.

Medium-Duty - Class 6 and 7 Trucks

Mack now brings all its renowned comfort and dependability to a line of medium-duty trucks, great for local deliveries and other short-distance applications. All three MD models feature a Cummins B6.7L, inline 6-cylinder, Turbo Diesel engine, as well as a range of features like a tilt/telescoping steering column, controls conveniently within reach, an air suspension driver seat, and more.

MD6 and MD6 Low Profile

The MD6 provides 10,000 lbs. in front axle capacity and 17,000 lbs. in rear axle capacity. Wheelbase options range from 150 inches to 270 inches.

  • Horsepower: 220-300 hp
  • Torque: 560-660 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 25,995 lbs.

The MD6 Low Profile features 19.5-inch low-profile tires to facilitate frequent loading and unloading.

MD7 - Class 7 Trucks

The MD7 gives you the same wheelbase options as the MD6 (150-270 inches) while delivering extra load capacity. Front axle capacity is 12,000 lbs., and rear axle capacity is 21,000 lbs.

  • Horsepower: 220-300 hp
  • Torque: 560-660 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 33,000 lbs.

Heavy-Duty - Class 8 Trucks

You have plenty of options if you're looking for Class 8 models of Mack Trucks. It's just a matter of choosing the one that best suits your performance, weight, and cab requirements. Here are some of your options.

Anthem

The Anthem features brand new driver-assist technology. Command Steer requires up to 85% less effort while steering and reduces driver strain by up to 30%. The result is less risk of long-term injury. It also helps you stay in your lane and makes getting in or out of loading zones easier. Command Steer automatically returns the steering wheel to zero when parking, reversing, or during other low-speed maneuvers.

  • Horsepower: 415-505 hp
  • Torque: 1260-1860 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 35,000-62,000 lbs.
  • Cab Configurations: 70-inch stand up sleeper, 48-inch flat top sleeper, and day cab, all with or without roof fairing

Pinnacle

The Pinnacle model is a rugged, old-school workhorse with extra comfort provided by its axle-forward cab and the stability of a low center of gravity. It is similar to the Anthem, except its base torque is a bit higher, and the cab configurations don't have the option for roof fairing.

  • Horsepower: 415-505 hp
  • Torque: 1560-1860 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 35,000-62,000 lbs.
  • Cab Configurations: 70-inch stand up sleeper, 48-inch flat top sleeper, and day cab

LR Diesel

The LR puts safety front and center. The edge-to-edge glass on its windshields provides superior visibility, while its enormous side windows nearly eliminate blind spots. It also gives you a clear view of cross-traffic from the wraparound rear window.

  • Horsepower: 320-355 hp
  • Torque: 1000-1260 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 43,000-72,000 lbs.
  • Cab configurations:
    • Three door options: standard, flip, or bi-fold
    • Standing and seated driving positions
    • Right-hand and left-hand, or dual steering systems

TerraPro

The TerraPro has an integrated transmission that lowers maintenance costs while increasing fuel efficiency and delivering optimum performance.

  • Horsepower: 325-505 hp
  • Torque: 1260-1860
  • GVWR: 35,000-81,000+ lbs.

Granite

The Mack Granite has excellent features inside and out. Maneuverability is optimized by its tight turning radius, while large windows and a sloped hood allow maximum visibility. The first flat-bottom steering wheel in the industry means more clearance for getting in or out of the cab, and premium seating offers supreme comfort. The conveniently easy-to-reach controls on the instrument panel increase a driver's productivity while reducing fatigue.

  • Horsepower: 325-505 hp
  • Torque: 1260-1860 lb./ft.
  • GVWR: 35,000-92,000+ lbs
